Day 61 Kununurra Ivanhoe Area

So we decided to have another look at the camping stores this time maybe for a cheap little tent, you know the cheap things you get from kmart for $15......but as expected no stores have such a thing in this area.

So we decided to go to the park and wildlife office to get our parks pass and ask about the roads we wanted to take to get to the bungle bungles. The girl told us if we have a 4wd, an off road van that is only single axle we are allowed to go in.

So we thought, bugger it, we will just take the caravan all the way in and camp down there for a few days!!

We then went for a drive up to buttons crossing to check out the free camp. Great free camp on the Ord river but really rough 4wd sections getting into. On the way out we walked into Black rock falls which were really nice then to middle springs which had some adventurous water crossings but also lots of fun.

On the way back we accidently came across the famous Ivanhoe crossing, it is a very daunting water crossing on a causeway with a lot of water spilling over the edge of it. We met vehicles coming the other way so we figured if they did it we can too!! And across we went, karen was terrified and if i am honest i was a little terrified too!!

But we got across safely and then sat on the other side watching the other 4wd's doing the crossing. A lot wouldnt do it, they turned and went back!

After all that excitement we went to the supermarket to grab a few things for the next few days and went back to camp to cook tea. We made pulled lamb sliders, they were yummo.

Watched some footy and went to bed.
